ANNA Jubilee Meeting

On 14–15 June 2012, a general meeting of ANNA, the international Association of National Numbering Agencies founded 20 years ago, was held in London. National Settlement Depository, which has been the member of ANNA for 13 years, took part in the meeting.

The London Stock Exchange, an organizer of the jubilee meeting of the Association, welcomed ANNA and the NNAs with an official ceremony of opening of the LSE trading session dedicated to ANNA’s 20th anniversary and its achievements in adopting international standards in global financial markets.

A key item of the meeting’s agenda was the current situation with a new international standard ISO 17442 LEI (Legal Entity Identifier) and positioning ANNA and national numbering agencies in the LEI operating model, if their participation in the project would be endorsed by the international community of Regulators.

In the light of this issue, the meeting unanimously approved a new ANNA Mission Statement stipulating ANNA’s commitments to provide products and services to the Regulators and the global financial services industry as well as NNAs’ obligations related to unique identification, classification and description of organizations and their financial instruments. ANNA’s Board of Directors also presented an updated strategy that establishes the Association’s short-, mid- and long-term prospects and its core principle - to ensure the wider use of the ANNA’s key advantage, the federal structure of the operating model (i.e. a wide network of national numbering agencies from over 100 countries).

The Board of Directors presented to the meeting information about stages of development of other international standards related to ANNA’s area of responsibility and about activities with regard to this field.

The participants of the meeting elected new members of the Board of Directors and ANNA Service Bureau Advisory Board due to expiration of terms of office of few members of ANNA’s executive bodies.

An organization from Jamaica was admitted as ANNA’s partner, and a stock exchange from Palestine was admitted as ANNA’s member.
