The National Depository Centre took part in the General Meeting of the Association of National Numbering Agencies

The National Depository Centre (NDC) took part in the annual General Meeting of members of the Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) held in Prague on May 10 and 11, 2001

Participants of the meeting discussed a number of important problems concerning work of the Association of National Numbering Agencies for the previous period and outlines plans for future.

The association includes more than 60 organisations each implementing in their countries functions of a numbering agency on allocating ISINs (International Securities Identification Numbers). The NDC which has been an ANNA’s member since 1999 implements in Russia the following functions in accordance with the ANNA’s Articles of Incorporation:

  • allocates international identification numbers to securities of the Russian issuers and other Russian financial instruments,
  • promotes use of the International standard ISO 6166 articles,
  • provides organisations - the Association members and other participants of securities market with information on issued international identification codes,
  • participates in creation of an effective international system of securities identification.

The aim of allocation of international identification codes is standard identification of issued securities and other financial instruments as parts of a global system and data dissemination between securities market members. International identification codes and standard definitions of securities are used in all sectors of financial activities and are necessary for effective implementation of clearing and settlements.
