General Meeting of ANNA members is to be held in Moscow in May 2006

The next General Meeting of Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) is to be held in Moscow on 18 - 19 May 2006. The host of the forthcoming meeting will be NDC that is a member of ANNA since 1999.

This decision was adopted at ANNA Extraordinary General Meeting in Zurich. The Russian NNA was represented by Mr. Nikolay Egorov, Chief Executive Officer of the National Depository Center, and Mr. Denis Soloviev, Deputy CEO. At the meeting there was discussed a number of issues connected with mutual work of ANNA and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), as well as different aspects of enlarging of possibilities of international database on financial instruments.

We would remind that in July 2005 the NDC was granted the status of Qualified National Operator/Coordinator (QNOC) in the Russian market. The National Depository Center being an ANNA member develops methods and regulations of international identification codes assignment to the Russian financial instruments which allows to guarantee accuracy and reliability of the data on the Russian securities and codes allocated. The ISIN database as well as information about NDC’s services on allocation of international identification codes is displayed at website www.isin.ru.

About ANNA:

Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) was founded in 1992 by 22 numbering agencies.

ANNA now comprises 64 organizations which fulfill functions of a national agency in their countries assigning international identification codes (International Securities Identification Number, ISIN) to securities and other financial instruments.

The purpose of ISIN assignment is to ensure standardized identification of financial instruments within a uniform system and distribution of data to securities market participants. International identification codes and standard descriptions of securities are used in all sectors of the securities industry and are necessary for performing of precise and effective settlement and clearing.

The main tasks of ANNA members are the following:

  • assigning of ISINs to domestic securities and other financial instruments
  • facilitating the application of provisions of ISO 6166
  • dissemination of information on international identification codes for different securities trading and management purposes under international securities transactions
  • participation in creating of an effective worldwide system of security identifiers.
